GloSat (marine data rescue component)

GloSat will generate new estimates of global surface air temperature, constructing a new observational record using air temperature over the ocean from ship observations instead of sea surface temperature.  Air temperature was measured on ships many decades, before sea surface temperatures were regularly observed, meaning that the air temperature record can be extended back further in time..
